2050 Legacy is a performance and artist development organization for empowerment and social change.
Through interdisciplinary arts and social justice theater 2050 Legacy explores the personal significance and
historical cultural relevance of national and global issues today. 2050 Legacy serves underserved, and deserving communities with resources to art and performance, global knowledge and self-awareness.

While working to develop and produce dynamic performances as well as facilitating engaging workshops
to promote understanding difference, 2050 Legacy explores the ways in which art can heal, educate, and change.
Utilizing social issues combined with cultural arts expression such as hip-hop, spoken word,
dance, music, movement and several theatrical forms, 2050 Legacy strives to strengthen communities
and ourselves by provoking new thought and evoke action through personal and global cross cultural communication.

2050 Legacy Vision
2050 Legacy is dedicated to empowering self and strengthening communities
through expression of the creative arts, by using social justice performance
to create awareness and understand difference.

2050 Legacy Mission
To serve young artists in their creative, academic and artistic development
by utilizing the cultural arts of hip hop, spoken word poetry, and various theatrical forms
to promote self-empowerment, social awareness and professional artistic advancement.

2050 Legacy History
2050 Legacy is a social justice theater arts organization based on the work of the late Project 2050.
Project 2050 began as a youth based program created by the influential cultural theater arts company
New WORLD Theater in Amherst Massachusetts. Project 2050 was created around the projection that in the year 2050
people of color would be the majority in the United States, and took a look at what that meant for all peoples in this country.

Project 2050 inspired youth and audiences through dynamic social justice hip-hop theater
painting a picture of the future in 2050. For 30 years the work of New WORLD Theater touched many people
and made a significant impact on communities locally and nationally. In the fall of 2009 after the unfortunate closing
of New WORLD Theater, Project 2050 Alumni and affiliates set out to continue the crucial and timely work
of Project 2050 by providing opportunities for others to engage in dialogues on social justice,
community building, leadership development and art-making.
